About YAC
NCLR's Líderes Initiative has formed a Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) to provide feedback on NCLR’s youth-driven programs, events, partnerships, and organizational goals. Specifically, the Youth Advisory Committee will serve as a sounding board to support Líderes in ensuring that programming remains relevant, engaging, and meets the needs of young Latino Líderes. The 2012 YAC members are: Ariel Cerrud (Beaverton, OR), Carolina Gamero (San Diego, CA), Elizabeth Cervantes (Chicago, IL), Emilio Vicente (Dorchester, MA), and Joe Posada (Dallas, TX).
This youth steering committee will help connect Latino students throughout the country to NCLR resources and campaigns and provide support to the execution of Líderes events.
Committee Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Líderes Youth Advisory Committee will be to:

Serve as an extension of NCLR’s Líderes staff by helping the team establish connections with local nonprofits and youth-serving organizations, college campuses, universities, and Latino/a Greek organizations

Provide support to Líderes activities by promoting them on a local and national level, and volunteering at Líderes events whenever possible

Support NCLR Líderes in strengthening the program’s impact and long-term success by providing feedback on student engagement strategies and outreach initiatives

Serving as youth representatives of the Initiative and responding to media inquiries to relay the concerns, hopes, and priorities of the youth in the national Líderes Network
