The Mexican American Unity Council, Inc. (MAUC) was founded in 1967 as one of the magnificent seven community development corporations funded by the Ford Foundation. Today, MAUC continues its work as a mature community development corporation. The corporation is dedicated to the ideal of improving opportunities and promoting economic development in the low-income Hispanic neighborhoods of San Antonio. In addition, MAUC offers a wide array of critically-needed community services ranging from early childhood development to family wellness and education. MAUC has built affordable housing for the elderly and has created hundreds of family-supporting jobs through strategic investments in the community.
