The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) invites you to a Líderes Initiative Congreso in Chicago, Illinois on August 22-23, 2008. Co-hosted by NCLR and Instituto del Progreso Latino, the Congreso will bring together more than 150 high school and college youth. The two-day event will feature peer-led workshops and guest speakers, including NCLR staff and community leaders, to inform and support the efforts of young Latinos. Attendees will be inspired and empowered, as they identify ways to increase their community involvement and become civically engaged.
The event will kick off on August 22 featuring Representative Luis Gutiérrez (D-IL) as the keynote speaker at the National Museum of Mexican Art and continue on August 23 at U.S. Cellular Field, courtesy of the Chicago White Sox.
Co- sponsored by Sodexo and MetLife Foundation, the two-day Congreso is being held at the National Museum of Mexican Art
on Friday (22/08) and at the U.S. Cellular Field, courtesy of the Chicago White Sox, on Saturday (23/08). Participants will receive tickets to attend a White Sox game vs. the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Festival Orgullo Sox, a pre-game concert featuring Xtreme, The D.E.Y and other Latino artists.

Registration for the Congreso earns participants tickets to the game and concert. You must attend the Congreso both days in order to receive the tickets.
Lodging Recommendations:
The closest hotel to the U.S. Cellular Field is the Hyatt McCormick Place. Other downtown Chicago hotels are also efficient since the park is easy to get to via cab or public transportation.
