The National Council of La Raza’s (NCLR) National Latino Advocacy Days will take place on March 3–4, 2010 in Washington, DC. More than 320 NCLR Affiliates, community leaders, and youth from throughout the country will convene to learn about and advocate for issues that impact the Latino community. On March 3, participants will receive intensive training on policy and legislative advocacy. The following day, they will meet with members of Congress to discuss reform issues that affect the Latino community. Join us as we take advantage of an historic opportunity to advance comprehensive immigration reform, our priority issue for the 2010 NCLR National Latino Advocacy Days, and advocate for other critical issues that impact the Latino community.
The event will take place at the Kellogg Conference Hotel at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.
Líderes Congreso
The Líderes Initiative will hold a Líderes Congreso at the 2010 NCLR National Latino Advocacy Days on the morning of March 3,2010. The Congreso will feature educational presentations and inspirational messages from NCLR staff and community leaders, to inform and support the efforts of young Latinos and to teach them how to maximize community impact, network and explore career options.
The National Latino Advocacy Days Congreso will feature a special presentation by ten youth from the "Líderes Learning to Lead, Líderes Leading to Change" planning committees from Oakland, CA, Toledo, Lorain, Columbus, OH and Washington, DC. These youth will share their experiences as leaders and grantees in the Líderes Initiative, help rally youth attending the Congreso, and shape a youth-led agenda for positive change and progress.
The Líderes Congreso will be held in conjunction with the events of NCLR’s National Issue Briefing and Advocacy Day (March 3 and 4, 2010), a two-day event that provides policy briefings on current issues affecting the Latino community. The training, which takes place on the first day of the event, focuses on communication strategies and advocacy techniques that participants then put into practice during the second day.
(Please check here to register for the Líderes Congreso youth program held in conjunction with the National Latino Advocacy Days on the morning of March 3.)
By selecting "Yes", you will be automatically registered for BOTH the Líderes Congreso on March 3 and the 2010 NCLR National Latino Advocacy Days activities on March 3-4.*
