About the 2012 Líderes Summit at the NCLR Annual Conference

The Líderes Initiative is proud to announce the 12th annual Líderes Summit, which will be held in Las Vegas, NV July 6–9 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino Hotel!

The Summit brings together nearly 500 high school and college students, youth leaders, and young professionals (ages 14–25) from student organizations and youth programs throughout the country to participate in a four-day program designed to polish their leadership and teamwork skills, discuss issues that impact the Latino community, and explore ideas for community involvement and empowerment. 

The 2012 NCLR Annual Conference and National Latino Family Expo will be in Las Vegas, NV on July 7–10!

Summit Program Overview

Summit activities (July 6–9) begin and conclude one day before those of the Annual Conference (July 7–10). 

Summit activities include:

  • A Líderes Welcome Luncheon featuring youth-led artistic performances
  • Twenty peer-led workshops (Tracks:  Education, Health, Leadership Development, Cultural Appreciation, Media and the Arts, Advocacy and Policy, Financial Planning, and Career Readiness)
  • Líderes Check-Ins that feature dynamic informational sessions and foster networking among youth leaders
  • A Welcome Dinner featuring renowned motivational speakers
  • A Líderes Gozadera opening dance
  • A Summit-wide Líderes Contest that promotes teamwork and networking
  • The Líderes Noche de Premios (Awards Night)
  • The Líderes Noche de Teatro (Theater Night)
  • The Líderes Cultural Talent Showcase
  • The Líderes Town Hall
  • A closing ceremony featuring cultural presentations and youth testimonials

Through our roster of peer-led educational workshops, students are exposed to best practices in a range of issue areas and learn how to found innovative programs in their home communities.

Lastly, the Líderes Summit agenda incorporates many NCLR Annual Conference events, allowing youth to partake in an invaluable networking experience.  Professionals who work with students—counselors, advisors, and program managers—are also encouraged to attend the youth conference.

For a limited time only, 2012 NCLR Líderes Summit participants have access to a very special rate at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Convention Center. At only $149/night*, this is a deal you can't afford to miss!

*Limit of five rooms per organization for the special rate. This offer is only available to Líderes registrants only. You must register and pay for the Conference first, to be eligible for the discounted hotel rate.

Normal Housing Rate (tentative)

Rates:  $209.00 per night for single/double + tax (12%)-*Not officially confirmed*
 A charge of $30.00 will be added for each additional guest over double occupancy, with a    maximum of four (4) guests per room.

Deadline
The reservation deadline is Friday, June 15, 2012. Requests received by the hotel after 5:00 p.m. PST on June 15 will be subject to availability and not eligible for the Conference rate.

Hotel Cancellation
To avoid cancellation charges, individual reservations must be cancelled 48 hours prior to the arrival date, no later than 3:00 p.m. PST.
